Charity Raising at Helsby Golf Club

Charity Raising at Helsby Golf Club

As the lock down started and progressed, Lady Captain, Christine Marsden, became concerned about her chosen charity for her year, the Neurotherapy Centre at Saltney nr Chester. All the planned fund raising was not going to happen.

So she got on her bike!!

Having taken up cycling again in lock down after a break of many years, she decided to do a virtual bike ride from Helsby golf club to Royal Portrush golf club in Northern Ireland, where she is from. Altogether she cycled 325 miles, passed 23 golf clubs, finishing with a very scenic virtual ride along the coast from Ballycastle to Portrush. So far, with sponsorship and donations she has raised the magnificent total of £2880, but I’m sure it will pass £3000.

Not surprisingly, now she is able to get back on the golf course, she is as fit as a fiddle and hitting the ball a mile! The lady members of Helsby, say with one voice ‘Well Done Chris.’
