Clarification from England Golf

Clarification from England Golf

Peter Whitehead has informed clubs this week :-

LIFT CLEAN & PLACE RELIEF ON CLOSELY MOWN

Following my previous email on this subject, I have sought further guidance from England Golf and the other northern counties in England have also discussed. From now, there should be NO blanket 18 holes that relief can be taken on closely mown during qualifying competitions. We in the Cheshire office realise that no two courses are the same and that localised weather, certainly of the last few days, have affected some courses worse than others. Please note that the Rules of Golf ( Rule 16) allow for relief where there is abnormal course conditions, so please consult.

Relief from Abnormal Course Conditions (Including Immovable Obstructions), Dangerous Animal Condition, Embedded Ball (randa.org)

However there may be certain areas of say a couple of fairways which the course manager is wanting to protect. Perhaps because lack of growth, for example. So for the next two weeks, where it is absolutely necessary, specific hole(s) can be declared where relief can be taken. This will help the Course Manager not having to ring large areas as GUR or No Play Zones. Please can you email me details where this course of action is be taken, as it may require me to visit to check. I am sure the vast majority of our courses will have no relief on closely mown anywhere.

Many thanks
