Taster Event for Newcomers

Taster Event for Newcomers

It’s tee time for the ladies at one Cheshire golf club this weekend.

Warrington GC is hosting a special taster event for newcomers to the sport.

And after the ladies have enjoyed an introduction to the skills needed to play golf, they will be able to enjoy coffee and cake in the clubhouse afterwards to learn all about the health and social benefits the sport can bring.

Warrington GC – which was founded in 1903 – can be found in London Road. It is located on the south side of the town and from its vantage point, it affords fine views across to the Pennine and Welsh hills.

The free golf taster session takes place on Sunday, April 24, from 12 noon to 2.30pm and all ages and abilities are welcome.

Further details from Dilys Peake on 07815 118765 or email dilyspeake@hotmail.co.uk.

Dilys says: “We hope as many ladies as possible come along, have fun and learn how golf can help them keep fit and make new friends.”

Alison Lysons, development officer for the Cheshire Golf Development Group which is working to support clubs attract more players, increase membership and develop a stronger future, says: “This is an ideal opportunity for those people who might have thought about giving golf a go – but didn’t know how.

“They will be able to learn some of the basic skills of the sport in a relaxed, informal and friendly atmosphere with people who are in the same situation as them – and then learn from those who play regularly what a difference the sport can make to health and well-being.”

Get into golf is a national campaign to inspire new golfers run by England Golf through its county network. Opportunities include beginner and follow-on courses with PGA professionals. They are a fun and sociable way to start golf – and a great way to make new friends. Lessons can cost as little as £25 for a five-week course.
