Prenton pair on top at Vale Royal

Vale Royal Abbey GC were again excellent hosts both on and off the course for the Cheshire Golf Mixed Foursome Championships
There were 22 pairs in the field, who enjoyed excellent weather and good company throughout an enjoyable and well organised competition.
Cheshire immediate Past-President Tony Gregory, who was playing with his wife Linda, reported: “The course was in excellent condition for Autumn and the greens were fantastic.
“They were certainly appreciated by Prenton’s dynamic duo of Darren Hough and Lesley Gibbons who stormed to a superb haul of 42 points.
“It left them well clear of the field with Didsbury’s Ian Swindells and Bev Bevins taking the runners-up slot after winning a cpo on 37 points from David and Kerry Little (Bromborough) by 10-9.
“The other top scores were posted by Adrian and Steph White (Heyrose) 35, Alan and Bernadette Jones (Heswall) and David Sheppard and Tricia Allison (Didsbury) both 34 and one point back were Stephen and Ruth Hughes (Stockport), Andie and Diane Fraser (Hartford) and Marc Wilcock and Gill Chruszcz.
“A sleeve of golf balls was presented to Jonathan Rice and Louise Gallagher (Wallasey) in recognition of being the strongest couple (holding everyone else up above them!) and as a reward for their perseverance to the end of their round.
“The prizes were presented by Cheshire President Roy Claxton (Eaton GC) who gave deserving thanks to all of the players, staff on and off the course at Vale Royal Abbey and the Cheshire officials and volunteers in making this a great day for mixed golf in Cheshire.”
