Dan planning more success in 2025

Dan Hayes of Bramhall GC has progressed from the Under 14s in Cheshire through to Carris Trophy success, England Men's Team and GB&I Juniors. Justifiably talked of as a genuine Walker Cup candidate, Dan's success is something Cheshire Golf and Bramhall GC are rightly proud of. Geoff Garnett reports on Dan's plans for 2025 along with his coach, Richard Green

Dan Hayes, from Bramhall Golf Club, has been one of Cheshire Golf’s outstanding young talents for several years and in 2024 he scaled new heights in England and Europe with a top list of tournament successes and with England Men’s Team.

Dan is completing his A levels this year and then looking forward starting a golf scholarship at Louisiana State University later in the year Dan outlined his pathway in golf, which is an outstanding example for ambitious young golfers.

Dan said: “As I started from a very young age golf has always been there for nearly all of my life, from the beginning it was never too serious but slowly as I played more and more it became more and more serious.

A much younger Dan!

“Some of the highlights along the way would be winning the Carris Trophy, representing England at both the boys and men’s level and representing GB&I boys.

“My thanks go to both my parents for helping and believing in me and my coach Richard Green for all the help from such a young age.

“My plans for this year are to go to LSU in the autumn for university and to play major amateur tournaments around Europe and America

“I am currently working on swing speed and distance and also course management

“I will keep trying to improve slowly year after year and all the pieces will slowly fall into place.

“My golfing idol is Tiger Woods as all the things he has accomplished are always great to look up to and push towards.”

His highly respected coach Richard Green, who was the professional at Bramhall GC for many years and still coaches there added: “I have had the pleasure of working with Daniel since the age of eight.

“I knew from the very beginning he was a rare talent who came to me with a very raw swing that needed some nurturing, but I couldn’t believe just how well he hit the ball.

“Coaching Daniel has been a pleasure and his work ethic is second to none.

“Because of his dedication to his craft I have tried to support him in any way possible from sponsorship to guidance and anything in between.

“I believe that the sky is the limit for this young man and it has been my honour to stand beside him through his golfing development.”
