Jo delighted with her charity presentation

Bramhall Golf Club’s Past Lady Captain Jo Lingwood was delighted to present a cheque for £9,088.51 to Francis House Charity representative Kate Puc for her Lady Captain’s Charity during her year in office.

Jo said: “I asked a dear friend of mine, how in my capacity as Lady Captain, we could help her son and his young family . She said Francis House had provided extraordinary support and guidance when they really needed it.

“Through the constant support of the ladies section as well as generosity of our club members and friends we managed to raise a great amount

“The main fund-raising events were guest speakers on Modern Suffragettes in February and physio for Golf in May.

“We held an afternoon Tea Party in July, a raffle on the Ladies Bowl for Men in in August, we had a fun ‘60’s themed’ charity golf day for the ladies alongside a fashion show by SOS in October, a Casino with Elvis and Auction night in November and Christmas Hamper raffle in December.

“I would like to express my thanks not only to the fabulous ladies section at Bramhall Golf Club including Rosa, (social sec) and Anita(treasurer), but to the support from all local Bramhall businesses including Angela Beer, Riva Menswear, Amaranth,Simply books, Unwin’s Greengrocers, Pimlots butchers, Turquoise and Romulus.

“Most of us will not need the support of Francis House Children’s Hospice but may know someone who has been immensely grateful for its support.”

Kate Puc added: “Jo has organised various fund raising events throughout her year of Captaincy and managed to raise a staggering £9,088.51 for Francis House Children’s Hospice.
“I’d like to thank Jo for all her hard work, time, effort, and enthusiasm that she has put into her year of events and the wonderful support from the ladies of the club that has supported her. It has been an absolute joy to work with Jo over the year and attending some of her events.

“This donation will be put to very good use at Francis House. The funds will help us to bring invaluable comfort, support, and expert care to so many families facing unimaginable challenges.

“Together they can build life-long memories here, filled with love and laughter. Through the generosity of Jo and the ladies at Bramhall Golf Club, we can ensure no family need face their difficult journey alone and we can remain a crucial lifeline for families navigating the toughest times ahead of them.

“Calling all future Captains and Lady Captains for 2025/2026’
“Francis House Children’s Hospice really need your fundraising support this year and wondered if in your year as ‘Captain’ and ‘Lady Captain’ your Local Children’s Hospice could be your charity to support.”
Each year, Francis House touches the lives of over 600 families, throughout Greater Manchester, meaning that they are looking after more than 3,000 people providing services including respite care,
home care, sibling support, end of life care and bereavement support . Francis House is there for these families through their good days, their tough days, and their last days.
Francis House currently needs £4.8 million a year (a herculean task at present). If you can help in any way they would be really and truly grateful.”
