Ewana Making Rapid Progress at Didsbury

Ewana Praveen has made a great start in golf after joining Didsbury Golf Club in 2025.

The 14-year-old Didsbury High School student followed her older brother Yohanan (now the first Junior Captain at the club for eight years) and younger brother Ethan to Didsbury.

They were given great support by next door neighbour Auntie Margaret – the Didsbury Lady Captain at the time.

They have all put in great efforts to develop their golf with help and encouragement from members and staff.

Ewana has made excellent progress to get an initial handicap and has played in competitions at all levels in the club with her siblings, with plenty of success, and seen her handicap drop.

Her top score of 53 points came in the Didsbury Junior Open.

Ewana’s outstanding progress was noted by Cheshire Girls Organiser Cathy Day and Ewana was invited to enjoy the upcoming coaching sessions for Cheshire Girls at Dunham Forest GC under the tuition of their professional Gary Norcott.

Ewana said: “I felt excited, proud, and encouraged in being selected for Cheshire Girls coaching in such a short time which validated my efforts and inspired me to work even harder. “As a junior golfer, I am focused on improving all areas of my game but mostly consistency, especially with my driver and short game. “In the short term, my ambition is to continue developing my skills, improving consistency, and performing well in competitions.

“In the long term I aim potentially to get my name on the honours board in the Didsbury GC club house and hopefully being chosen to represent Cheshire girls. “I would like to thank my brothers for challenging me to improve my golf game and all the other members at the golf club who have been so welcoming and supportive “I am truly excited to begin golf lessons at Dunham Forest as they will help me improve my technique, build confidence, and take my game to a higher level.”
