Hazel proud to be Lady Captain at Wonderful Wilmslow

Hazel Baker has been a member of The Wilmslow Golf Club for 32 years and is very proud to be chosen as the Lady Captain for the coming year.

Hazel (Pictured) said: “The Wilmslow Golf club is a fabulous course with a lovely ladies section. I think that most of the members are proud to be part of such a successful club – it is obvious from the recent member applications that our course is highly regarded amongst lower handicap golfers.

“My current handicap is 18 and my best was 14.

“My favourite holes at the club are the 9th and 14th– both very tricky par threes and apart from my own club the other favourite course I was lucky to play was Wentworth-absolutely fabulous!

“I like to play about three times a week and my other hobbies are going to the gym twice a week and lying by the pool in the sunshine with a good book- not necessarily in that order- and supporting Manchester City.

“My chosen charity for the year is Moya Cole Hospice (formerly St Ann’s Hospice) which was renamed last year to honour Dr Cole who founded the charity in 1971. It is a local charity having centres in Heald Green and Little Hulton.

“My own personal golfing highlights are probably winning major competitions including the Bellhouse Cup and Lady Captain’s Day – both Board competitions and obviously it is also a great honour to be asked to be Lady Captain.

“Finally if I could choose three players to join me in a four-ball they would be three very close friends – that’s the best format for a fun round!”
