Romiley host Faldo junior event

Romiley Golf Club made club history as they hosted a Faldo Futures Qualifying Series round for young golfers, boys and girls aged between 7-12 years attracting players from across the region and North Wales to play the competition over nine holes.
Playing a big part in the organisation of the event was Melissa Clapham who was nominated in the final three for the England Golf Volunteer of the Year award at the England Golf Centenary Awards Dinner at The Midland Hotel, Manchester, which was won by Abi Frodsham of Wallasey GC.
Melissa said: “We applied to host the event and delighted to be chosen.
“It went extremely well and I would like to thank all of the volunteers from Romiley GC who helped to manage the event on the day.
“The players who qualified now go through to the regional North West final at Worsley GC and if they make it through that they will play in the British Masters in August at the Belfry.
Among the top players was Cheshire u12 player Will Furness from Ringway GC as well as other players from the host club.

Emma Barnes and Eliza Connolly (Romiley GC – girls11-12 division)
Boys group 9-10 years with winners, 4 Lachlan Tod (Southport and Ainsdale) and Roman Hicks (Denton)
James Prest (Romiley) and Jaxon Tuite (Hazel Grove) boys 9-10 division
