Young Ambassador Boost to Wirral Golf Academy

The Wirral Golf Academy which was set up in 2019 to encourage more young people to take up the game of golf has been boosted by the addition of England Golf’s Young Ambassador of the Year, Louise McLoughlin to it’s team of volunteers.

Louise plays golf at Bromborough Golf Club she has represented her club and her county at both junior and adult level and her enthusiasm for golf and her desire to help more people, especially girls, to get involved is second to none. Having just completed her A’Levels and obtaining an impressive set of results Louise is set to have a year off from her academic studies and concentrate on golf whilst deciding in which direction to take her involvement in the game over the coming years.

At the Wirral Golf Academy Louise will be helping PGA Professional Simon Hooton and Academy Founder & Level One coach Angela Dale with sessions for the youngest members of the Academy who form The Seedlings section and she will be going on to take her level one coaching qualification in November this year.

Louise brings plenty of experience to the Academy having previously been a Girls Golf Rocks ambassador in Cheshire and volunteered at a variety of girls taster sessions and celebration events. In 2018 her own club, Bromborough, took part in the Girls Golf Rocks initiative and Louise visited local schools to promote the club’s taster event and encourage girls to attend. Bromborough had a great turn out at their taster session with some of the girls saying that they had only gone along because they’d met Louise at their school so they knew there would be a friendly face there. Since the taster session Louise has helped at the Girls Golf Rocks coaching sessions and also at group coaching sessions to attract ladies to Bromborough Golf Club and she loves seeing new people come into the game and helping them to enjoy the challenge and develop their golf.

As well as helping with new players Louise has also presented to representatives from Cheshire Golf Clubs where she spoke about golf from a junior perspective, outlining the advice she would give to new juniors and what she thought clubs and the county could do to attract more young people to the game. She has already started to discuss some of her ideas with Angela and the team at the Academy, who are delighted to have input from a young golfer as they move things forward.

Angela Dale, founder of the Academy commented “I am delighted that Lou has decided to join the team, she is warm and welcoming to the children and she will make a great role model. I am sure all the children will benefit from her in both golf and life skills. I know that as she develops her coaching skills she too will grow so a big win win all round.”. Louise herself says “I am so happy to be a part of the academy, watching the children grow in their golf and also as people, to help them believe in their golf/abilities and to be part of that transformation. I’m really grateful to Angela for making me feel so welcome and can’t wait for us all to progress together as a team”.
