Cole is top of the pile at Delamere

DELAMERE Forest Golf Club has hosted the Cheshire Boys Championships for over 30 years and once more they provided a magnificent stage for a superb contest.
The quality of the golfing talent on view was amazing and reflected the hard work put in by the CUGC in developing junior golf.
It turned out to be a great advert for the work done by the players, coaches and organisers with a title wide open to many of the top players.
The boys showed their golfing talent and also their friendship and impeccable golfing etiquette throughout the enthralling 36 holes.
After round one Todd McKie (Eaton GC) set the hot pace with 68 from Cole Self (Ringway) and Laurent Beech (Eaton) both 70.
Then Cole stepped up the pace in round two with another fine two under par return of 70 for a 140 total putting him well clear of Todd McKie 144. Laurent Beech 145 and Ben Buchanan (Dunham Forest) and Aaron Mohun (Delamere Forest) both 147.
Cole was presented with the champions Trophy by CUGC President Roy Claxton who gave deserving praise to the players, supporters, CUGC officials and volunteers and last but not least to Delamere Forest for their superb support and organisation.
Roy presented the Club Captain with a CUGC plaque for their faultless hosting of a great day of golf.
Cole will go on to represent Cheshire in the English County Champions Tournament at Woodhall Spa GC in September
The other prize winners were Jeremy Ju (Hazel Grove) best morning net score of 67, Nathan Hopley (Bramall Park) best second round gross 69, Pierce Freeman (Delamere Forest) best net 36 holes 135, Todd McKie second with 144 and Laurent Beech 145.
