Monday 27th July saw the Northern Counties League match between Northumberland and Cheshire Boys at Wychwood Park Golf Course. Our hosts at Wychwood were magnificent and the course was in excellent condition with a lot of run on some very dry fairways but the greens were well tended and provided perfect surfaces. The course is well laid out in acres of land and with water on many holes to catch an errant shot an ideal location for a matchplay event. The morning started well with wins in the foursomes for Jack Barnes and Jack Tennant (5&4), Ben Davies and Will Furness (1up), Callum Woolley (3&2) and Lennon Smith & Jasper Hughes (2&1). But the afternoon saw Northumberland come roaring back winning 3 and drawing 2 of the first 6 matches, with only Captain Matty Griffiths coming out ahead (7&6) in these matches. However, wins by Lennon Smith (4&3), Jack Tennant (4&3) and Ben Davies (5&3) gave us an afternoon score of 5:5 and an overall victory of 9:6. Thanks to John Heggarty who was superb in his encouragement both on the practice round on the Sunday and throughout the matches on the Monday. Team Manager Andrew Henshall said “He was now looking forward to the remaining 2 matches against Lancashire and Yorkshire with much more confidence after overcoming a very good Northumberland side”. These matches take place on Monday 10th August at Stamford when supporters of the Boys team will be most welcome, and at Wheatley near Doncaster on Monday 17th August.

Day 2 of the English Women's County Finals and Cheshire Women have done us all proud with a 7-2 win over Dorset. A great performance by players, caddies, officials and supporters.

Cheshire Women’s Team Our women's team, having qualified earlier this summer, head to Surrey for the County Finals and were drawn against Lincolnshire today. The foursomes this morning gave Cheshire an early victory 21/2 to 1/2 with some amazing golf. In the afternoon singles, Cheshire had to work hard for their wins. Lincolnshire were fierce competitors and came back with a 4/2 win. This meant Cheshire and Lincolnshire had 4.5 points each. It was a tense afternoon but it’s still all play for! ========== The English Women's County Finals (28-31 July) is contested between eight counties. The 6 Regional winners (North, Midland North, Midland South, East, South and South West) will be joined by the runners up from the North and South. Over the course of the first 3 days, the counties will be split into two leagues and play a round robin format with each match consisting of 3 foursomes in the morning and 6 singles in the afternoon. On the final day, the 2 counties who won their leagues will play for the trophy in the championship match. The remaining teams will play for final positions with the 2nd place teams competing for 3rd, 3rd place teams for 5th and 4th place teams for 7th.

Malin Kirby has arrived at Pinehurst! She's seen here in her Cheshire kit as she registers for the US Juniors finals 🙂 Malin, a member at Lymm GC, trains with the Cheshire Girls U12 squad at Heswall Golf Club with Jason Dransfield.

🇪🇸 A great week on the international stage for Cheshire’s Morgan Bollan. Morgan proudly represented Wales 🏴 at the European Young Masters U16 Championships at Parador de El Saler Golf Club in Valencia, Spain, competing against the very best young golfers from 33 nations. Battling intense temperatures and challenging coastal winds throughout the week, Morgan produced rounds of +4, +2 and +1 to finish 10th in the girls’ competition and as the highest-placed player from Great Britain & Ireland, a brilliant achievement on one of junior golf’s biggest stages. With teams made up of 2 girls and 2 boys, a huge congratulations the @walesgolf team and coaching staff on an excellent week, finishing 13th overall against Europe’s strongest junior golfing nations. Still only 15, Morgan will be eligible for selection again next year when the championship heads to Belgium Morgan will fly back tonight and join the Cheshire Ladies team for the National finals at Betchworth Park. Congratulations, Morgan!
