Gemma is a big winner in Europe

Gemma Clews had an outstanding career with Cheshire as a member of Ashton-on-Mersey and Delamere Forest golf clubs as a junior and lady player winning many top competitions at county, regional and national levels. She was also selected to be part of a successful English Ladies team  before deciding to turn professional in 2017.Gemma outlined her progress in professional golf with plenty of ups and downs before enjoying her most successful year in 2025.

Gemma – A proud member of Ashton on Mersey

Gemma said: “2024 was a tough year and I struggled with my game and after 2024, I made the tough decision to step back down to the LETAS to play a full season to try and gain a card that way, which was a very successful decision as I won the OOM and gained full LET status back.

“All of my sponsors, family, and my team of coaches have been a massive support to me. They have stuck by me and given me full support through the ups and the downs that golf delivers.Without them I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have so far in my career, it’s been a massive team effort from everyone involved over the past 18 years of my golfing journey. Winning the LETAS OOM this year was a great achievement, if not my best so far.

Gemma with her Order of Merit award

“It shows all the hard work I’ve put in and also the consistency of my game this year. I had a win and put myself into contention most weeks and gained more experience. Now heading into the 2026 season on the LET, I’m filled with excitement to get started and getting back to competing against the best female professionals in Europe.

“Ashton on Mersey and Delamere Forest Golf Clubs have both been a massive support to me throughout my career as an amateur and a professional. The support I receive from the members is amazing and it’s great to have so many people behind me supporting me. Having started playing golf and going through Cheshire Golf and England Golf, both organisations provided me with a lot of opportunities and created a great pathway for me to progress along. This gave me great experiences and playing opportunities for me to make a dream a reality, making golf my career”
