Bobby is a worthy champion

Sale Golf Club, England, Great Britain and Ireland true golfing legend Joanne Morley has supported the Golfing competition for boys and girls under 16 years for over 20 years.

Plenty of top golfers such as Bronte Law and David Horsey have taken part in the event and the talent on show at Sale could see more following in their path in golf.

The competition took place over 16 holes at Sale having been unfortunately postponed twice previously due to adverse weather conditions

As usual Joanne was there throughout the day on the first tee and around the course with the players as well as presenting the prizes at the end of the day.

Also giving good support to the competition, which Sale has hosted many times were Sale Captain Andy Howie and President Derek Chadwick along with other Sale members.

The day was blessed by good weather and a course in great condition enjoyed by all of the players.

The winner of the Joanne Morley Trophy was Bobby Moore (Reddish Vale) with an excellent haul of 40 points and he also won a Garmin watch kindly provided by Club Golf Systems.

He finished two points clear of Luca Davies (Styal) and also in the prizes were George Goulding (Ringway) 35 and Oliver Coleman (Disley) 34.

The top girl was Emily Macauley (Ringway), the youngest player in the field at ten years and she won a card play off on 26 from club colleague Milly Tighe.

The nearest the pin for boys on the third hole was won by Zach Norcross (Styal).

None of the girls hit the green on their nearest the pin hole on the 13th and a raffle for the prize was drawn by Andy Howie with Ella Carr (Sale) the lucky recipient.

There was also a keen contest for the team prize with the top three scores in a team counting for the final total.

It was won by the Styal A team of Luca Davies, Joel and Zach Norcross and Wilf Simcock with a 101 score.

The other teams in the mix were: Styal  B, Ringway, Sale, Disley, Hartford and Jai’s Juggernauts.

Once more a great day of junior golf with all of the players doing themselves, their parents and organisers and their clubs proud.

WGTB Golf with be looking to host the next competition in October, again at Sale, supporting the Golf Foundation, which again provided some excellent prizes along with local clubs and WGTB Golf.
