Mellor Greenkeeper wins club championship

Mellor and Townscliffe Golf Club head greenkeeper Jamie Beech secured another parking spot at his club by winning the MacDonald Scratch medal over 36 holes.
Jamie and his team had set up a perfect course enjoyed by all of the players and at the end of the day by Jamie himself.
It was a day of two halves with a warm and muggy morning and wet and windy in the afternoon.
Jamie posted rounds of 79 and 77 for a total of 156 to lead in from Peter Roberts 157, Lauren Jones 162, Steve Crosthwaite 164 and John Heginbotham 166.
It won him the club championship, a free parking spot (to add to the one he already has in his green keeping role) and the coveted Macdonald Trophy.
