The semi-final and final of the Senior Men’s Matchplay Championship was held at Prenton GC in wall-to-wall sunshine after playing the qualifying round and early knock out rounds the previous week.
The morning semi-finals were won by Bramhall’s Gareth Bradley against Neil Hickson (Ringway) in a close contest by 2&1.
The other semi saw Gareth’s Cheshire Senior team mate Mike Wallwork beat Simon Bolam (Prestbury) 6&5.
Gareth had previously won in 2021 but has now added of three successive wins in the competition matching Dave Nelson (Northenden) who won the first three in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Sam Prince completed an identical hat-trick in the Men’s Matchplay last week.
Gareth won the final by 4&3 and was presented with the winner’s Salver by former Cheshire secretary Stephen Foster who founded the event and donated the trophy.
