Alsager proves too tough for Under 14s

Cheshire Boys u14 team enjoyed a trip to the deep south of Cheshire to take on Alsager and Astbury Juniors.

U14 manager Graham McCormack said: “First of all many thanks to Steve Woby and Alsager GC for their hospitality today, with special mention going to their catering people for a superb breakfast. Overall, we were made so welcome.

“We were very lucky with the weather, but not quite the same with one of the two mountains you had to climb!

“The match finished 6-2 in favour of Alsager and Astbury as local knowledge and shots given were a mountain too far for most of the team,

“Having said that, four matches went down to the 18th hole and our two winners, Tomas and Jamie had to overcome a seven-shot difference. Well done all of you!

“Special thanks go to our guests Cruz Norton (Northenden) and Jamie Littlewood (Sandiway), both members of our development squad, for helping make up our team.

Today you can tick-off Alsager, yet another course played in your quest to play as many as you can to test and improve on your handicap.

“The second mountain to overcome was on the 15th hole, with magnificent views of more than one

County (at least you ALL managed to negotiate that)

“As always, thanks to my cohort, Jim (McBride) and parents for your support.

“Next week, for some of you, we move on to Wallasey and a chance to enjoy the challenge of the course at the home of Stableford where our boys team recently won the Four Counties competition.”
