Senior Ladies begin title defence with a win

Cheshire Senior Ladies began the defence of their Northern League Richardson Trophy in confident style at Sandiway GC.

After surviving some early rain the players were then able to enjoy the superbly prepared course in pleasant weather as nearby areas suffered some heavy showers.

Seniors Captain Jane Burke said: “Following torrential overnight rain our Sandiway greens team managed to get us out on time to enjoy an almost dry round.

“We saw some great matches and fabulous golf and began the defence of the Richardson Trophy in confident style winning 6-1 with five wins and two halved matches.

“Our Seniors champion Cath Rawthore led out the team followed by Elaine Ratcliffe, Caroline Berry, Barbara Jamieson, myself, Alison Hunt and Sara Spencer to victory.
