Eaton take MCJL Club Trophy

The Mid Cheshire Junior League Open Day at Eaton GC was an excellent day of good weather and excellent golf.

MJCL organiser Graham McCormack said: “The weather behaved itself and we had a very enjoyable and for some, a very successful day at Eaton GC thanks to their new JO, Paul Stananought and everyone at the club, who made us so welcome.

52 juniors from 18 clubs took part in this annual championship.

Four of the Country Referees, led by Peter Longson, undertook their dutieshel and were much appreciated by everyone and helped elevate the status of the event,

The team event result was extremely close, due to it only being the best two scores from three, with the third card to count in the event of a tie. Saying it was extremely close was an understatement!

Disley and Eaton not only tied on 73 points but also tied using the third score at 102.

In order to decide an outright winner and without knowing individual scores it was decided to compare the scores of the lowest handicap player from each team, which resulted in Eaton winning our new claret trophy.

The third place went to Sandbach with 71pts and they only had two players!

Next in on 70 were Lymm, Styal and Knutsford.

The best gross score was from Toby Ainsworth (Delamere Forest) 73

Best nett score Josef George (Eastham Lodge).

Nearest the pin on fourth hole Dylan Emms (Bramall Park).

Nearest the pin on 17th Megan Burgess (Warrington)
