James Ashfield selected for Walker Cup

James Ashfield of Delamere Forest has become only the third Cheshire player to be selected for the Walker Cup. Previously David Horsey and Matt Jordan have played in the bi-annual match. At national level James represents Wales, and he won the Welsh Amateur in 2022.
James has progressed rapidly since clinching the Scottish Boys Championship in 2019 and won our county championship in 2021 with a stunning 25 under par total at his home club.
He recently represented Europe against Asia in the Bonallack Trophy at La Manga. This followed runner-up places in the Lytham Trophy and European Amateur Championship.
