Sting in the tail takes Margaret Sangster Trophy for Denise

A talented group of Cheshire ladies enjoyed playing for the Margaret Sangster Trophy at Bramhall Golf Club, Bramhall is a regular host for county competitions and once more provided a splendid day both on and off their excellent course with great support from their friendly staff and members.

Running the day with great efficiency was Cheshire official Fiona Walton with the destination of the trophy being decided by the last group.

Early starter Cathy Day (Sandiway), the Cheshire Girls organiser, with a gross 80, net 72, to set the benchmark for the rest of the players.

And as so often happens there is a sting in the tail provided by the last group out.

It came from Denise Booth (Romiley GC), playing off 10.4 handicap who posted a net 69 to win the Margaret Sangster Trophy which has plenty of top Cheshire players winning it in previous years.

Denise finished ahead of Cathy 72 and Hilary Stanton (Sandiway) and Tiffany Fielden (Hale), both 74.

Cathy had the best gross score of 80 ahead of Denise 81, Tiff 82 and Debbie Finch (The Mere) 84.
