Reddish Vale welcome new county President

Reddish Vale Golf Club are great supporters of Cheshire Golf, having provided their superb MacKenzie course for a variety of competitions over the years as well as producing some top players for the county.
They have held their Gentleman’s Dinner for many years (even club legend Dave Sanders can’t remember when they began) and it has usually been the first official engagement for the newly installed Cheshire President.
Roy Claxton (Eaton GC) is the new President for the CUGC and he was invited to be a top guest at the dinner just three days after he became President along with Bernard Stone the Captain of Manchester Captains.
There was a good attendance of 60 members of the club for the event organised superbly by President Trevor Bate and several members of staff.
Dave Sanders, who won the Cheshire Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, commented: “I have been a member of Reddish Vale for 32 years and the dinner was probably taking place for many years before that.
“The evening could not have gone any better and the guests have been in touch since commending the club for the welcome, hospitality and in particular the high standard of catering.
“The highlights, in equal measure, were the catering, feel good factor in the room and the four excellent speeches from Roy Claxton, Bernard Stone, RV Captain Colin Barr and RV Captain elect Dave Ibbotson.”
Dave views were echoed by Trevor Bate who added: “The evening went perfectly with great speeches from our two main guests Roy and Bernard and a delicious meal prepared by our Stewards/Chef Colin and Emma Stamper.”
A great night for Roy to enjoy ready for his busy year ahead.
