Good progress for Max

Max Ranson has enjoyed his golf since he began 18 years ago and he has made great progress in the game.
He was delighted to reach the final of the Cheshire Matchplay Championships at Prestbury where he lost a thriller on the final hole to Cheshire team star Sam Prince (Ringway GC).
Max outlined his development in golf: “I’m 23 years old and live in Bowdon. I currently play off +2 and am a member at Dunham Forest. I obtained a Sports Scholarship at University of Chester and I now work full-time at Together Financial Services Ltd as part of their Graduate programme. I first touched a club when I was five years old and instantly fell in love with the game. My dad was a low single figure handicap at the time so he encouraged me to play regularly until the age of 10.
“I then stopped playing golf for six years and picked it up again when I was 16, obtaining my first official handicap of 10 and became a scratch golfer three years later when I was 19.
“My biggest career highlight so far has to be recently reaching the final of the Cheshire Matchplay at Prestbury, which was a close game with a lot of good golf played, although other highlights include winning the first two scratch Club Championships at Dunham Forest in both 2022 and 2023, and scoring a 67 gross (-5) off 4 handicap to win my first competition.

“My golfing idol is Tiger Woods having watched him in his prime at a young age. There are lots of people to thank throughout my journey in golf so far but in particular I would like to thank my parents for their unwavering love and support.”
