U14s win close match at Sandiway

Cheshire u14’s enjoyed a close contest on a terrific course at Sandiway Golf Club against the home club junior side.
The players had to endure some heavy rain in the later stages but kept going well showing great spirit.
Cheshire u14 organiser Graham McCormack said: “Congratulations on the hard fought win today 4.5 to 3.5, given the number of shots some players had to give to their opponents on their own course, you all did really well.
“The winners on the day were Jasper Hughes 3&2, Aidan Lam 5&3, George Bull 4&2 and Ricky Mohun 3&1 with Josh Hockenhull securing a vital half in his match.
“The weather held up for quite a while, but eventually arrived with a vengeance, which didn’t dampen the enthusiasm to continue playing.
“A number of the team were playing at Sandiway for the first time – it’s a super course and one they must play in better conditions.
“There is an opportunity to do this on Monday 19th August the date of Sandiway’s Junior Open, which if you recollect is one of three Opens we challenged you to play in at least two of this year.
“The other two are Wallasey on Sun 14th July and Stockport on Sunday September 1st
“If you haven’t booked them already I suggest you do so quickly, as they are very popular venues.
“Special thanks to Stuart (Richards) Sandiway’s Junior Organiser, along with our thanks to Sandiway for re-arranging the match after it was cancelled early in April.
“I’m also indebted to Jim McBride and Mike Jones for their support and help on the day.”
