Resounding league win for Cheshire men

Reddish Vale Golf Club were excellent hosts as Cheshire men’s team played Cumbria in their latest Northern Counties League match.
All players were very complimentary about the excellent and challenging nature of the historic MacKenzie course backed by superb reception and warm welcome by the club staff and members.
Cheshire went into the match buoyed by their big win in their first fixture and they kept the momentum going as they took a very handsome 4.5-1.5 lead in the morning foursomes.
Picking up the points for Cheshire were Sam Burton and Haminder Matharu one up, Josh Sims and Rory McDonald O’Brien two up, Paul McFerran and Lucas Kuiper 5&3, Sam Johnson and Liam Gobin 4&3 with a half from Max Ranson and Dave Edwards.
Cheshire kept up the pressure in the afternoon singles, winning ten matches for an overall winning score of 14.5-3.5.
The winners for Cheshire were: Jon Beesley 2&1, Chris Chilton 5&3, Haminder Matharu one up, Josh Sims 4&2, Rory McDonald O’Brien 4&2, Paul McFerran 4&2, Lucas Kuiper one up, Max Ranson 3&1, Sam Johnson one up and Liam Gobin 4&3.
Cheshire President Roy Claxton gave deserved thanks to the players, county officials and Reddish Vale staff and members for their support and organisation and presented Vale Captain Dave Ibberson with a Cheshire plaque for hosting the competition.
