Welcome return for Handicap Trophy at Chorlton

The Cheshire Handicap Trophy was a regular feature on the CUGC circuit from 1960 until it was ceased in 2017 when it had changed from singles to pairs in the competition in its later years.
It was restored into action in 2024 as a singles competition and Chorlton were delighted to welcome players to their scenic and immaculately presented course and historic club house of Barlow Hall.
The players enjoyed the course and the friendly welcome from the club and excellent hospitality in the clubhouse on a day with very welcome dry weather.
The main prize and the Handicap Trophy were won by 16 handicapper Bish Niewola (Astbury GC), a Cheshire Union Life Member, with a net 64 taking him one clear of Philip Clark (Chorlton) who won a cpo from Yacob Cajee (Sandbach).
Also in the prizes were Ian Holmes (High Legh Park) best net score of 68 from Handicaps up to 15 and David McGuirk (Runcorn) Handicaps from 16 plus with 74.
CUGC President Roy Claxton presented the prizes to winners and a CUGC plaque to Pam Draper (Chorlton member and CCLGA President) in recognition of her club hosting the event.
Roy gave deserving praise to the host club its staff and members, CUGC officials and all of the players for making this another excellent day for Cheshire Golf.
