Sammy at the Double

Sammy Prince has achieved the rare double of Player of Year and Order of Merit Winner in 2024.

The Player of Year is a reward for consistent performances for the Men’s team across the season against the best teams in Northern England. It all came down to the final fixture, away to Durham, were a singles win allowed Sammy to move ahead of Paul McFeeran, who had led for a lot of the season. In third place was Josh Sims closely followed by Dan Hayes.

The Order of Merit covers the major County Championships plus 8 Northen Order of Merit events, which are open to all the top players in the Northen Counties. Sammy took an early lead by winning the Matchplay Championship at Prestbury and followed it up with a series of good results in Northern Order of Merit events at Wallasey, Wilmslow and Presbury. He then added the County Foursomes Championship to seal the Order of Merit. With a win at Eaton towards the end of the season Max Ranson took the runners up spot closely followed by Sam Burton and Paul McFerran.
