Cheshire Ladies set new Richardson Trophy record in dramatic finish

Cheshire Golf Senior Ladies have had great success in recent years at all levels and they added a special new record in a tense finish to the Northern Team Championship for the coveted Richardson Trophy.

Cheshire had won it for the previous eight years and in an exciting end to the season Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cheshire were all able to win the trophy.

Cheshire Senior Ladies Team Captain Jane Burke said: “In the end Yorkshire halved their match with Lancashire which meant that Lancashire had the same number of points as Cheshire so it came down to the individual games won and halved over the season.

“With 25.5 wins Cheshire came out on top to clinch a record nine successive wins of the Richardson Trophy- WELL DONE!

“Every player has played her part in retaining the trophy as every win and half has counted.
