Cheshire Golf Strengthens Commitment to Mental Health and Wellbeing

Cheshire Golf has taken a significant step in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of golfers across the county by delivering a Mental Health First Aid course, funded with the support of England Golf.

The two-day training programme, hosted at Ringway Golf Club, brought together representatives from Cheshire Golf, England Golf, and a number of affiliated clubs, including Ringway, Prestbury, Disley, Mellor, Lymm, Bramhall Park, Wirral, The Wilmslow as well as members from Romiley, Pryors Hayes and Sandiway.

The initiative reflects Cheshire Golf’s recognition of the growing importance of mental health within sport and the wider community. By investing in this training, the county aims to ensure that more individuals within its network are equipped to recognise, understand, and respond appropriately to mental health challenges.

Speaking on behalf of Cheshire Golf, Abby Baumber, Assistant Secretary said:
“We are proud to have delivered this important training with the support of England Golf. Mental wellbeing is a crucial part of our sport, and this initiative will help create a stronger, more supportive environment for our clubs and members across Cheshire.”

Going forward, Cheshire Golf will work with its affiliated clubs to build on this foundation, using the knowledge gained from the course to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and ensure that golfers have access to appropriate support when needed.

Cheshire Golf extends its thanks to England Golf for their funding and to Ringway Golf Club for hosting the training.
