Golf is a sport well known to be enjoyed across all age groups and this was certainly well demonstrated at Didsbury GC in a Summer Medal competition.
Fred Finley, Didsbury President for the second successive year and Captain ten years ago, has been a member of his beloved club for 48 years and played golf across the world with success.
Getting a hole-in-one had always eluded the 82 year old (current handicap index 15.5) until now. Fred’s long wait ended on the Par 3 Hole 6 when his immaculate radar-like shot went into the hole much to the delight of Fred and his playing partners, Darren Morrison and Pete Jamieson. Celebrations followed at the 19th Hole.

Meanwhile ten year old Tony Redman a regular competitor in club competition was also celebrating. Toby, current handicap 29, posted a nett 69 to top division 3 and win a special Junior prize.

Toby brought Fred back to earth reminding him that he was the youngest ever player to get an ace at Didsbury GC two years ago at the age of eight on the Par 2 Hole 4.
A great day for the dynamic duo!
