ECICS News Bulletin (Click header for more)

HUNDREDS of lady golfers of varying abilities from across East and West Cheshire play in the weekly league competitions which culminate in knock out rounds and finals day for their regional finals.

The winners of the team competitions- A, B, Plate and Business ladies- from East and West Cheshire then meet in the finals day to decide the county champion clubs in their respective competitions.

Hazel Grove GC – England Golf’s ‘Club of the Year’ in 2022 were the host club for the 2023 finals and they provided excellent weather, a superbly conditioned course and excellent clubhouse service and a friendly welcome from staff and members for the players, officials and supporters over two busy days.

The first day was for the Business ladies final between Hazel Grove and Sandiway and the home club won a close contest 2/1 to become the county champions.

The following day saw the other three finals being played and first up was the A Final between West champions Davenport and East Champions Vale Royal Abbey which went to the wire of a last-hole finish to take Davenport across the line.

This was followed by the B team final between East Champions Tytherington and West champions Sandiway.

Another nerve-jangling contest saw Tytherington win the trophy.

Finally the Plate competition saw East champions Congleton take on Royal Liverpool and Congleton made it a clean sweep for the East as they also won.

The Trophies were presented to the teams by Cheshire Ladies Captain Helen Heggarty (Royal Liverpool) who gave deserving thanks to all of the players, their club organisers, East and West Cheshire organisers and host club Hazel Grove for their unstinting efforts to bring a great conclusion to another busy and successful programme.

East Cheshire organiser Barbara Allen (Hazel Grove) announced that the 2024 East Finals will be held at Astbury GC and the East v West finals at Delamere Forest GC.
