Junior Open a great success at wonderful Wilmslow

Wilmslow Golf Club has already been a top host this season for the Cheshire Men’s Championship, Cheshire Schools Championships and the England U16 Schools championships.

It maintained its high standards on and off the course, led by Junior Organiser Chris Cope and his capable and busy helpers, for the annual Wilmslow Junior Open which attracted its largest field ever of over 100 players from all over the UK- Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cheshire who enjoyed a fantastic Wilmslow course in great condition and producing some top class golf from some very talented boys and girls.

The top trophy on the day was the Robinson Trophy, for the best nett score, which was donated by the Wilmslow Junior Section founder the late Philip Robinson and it was presented by Philip’s daughter-in-law Sue to the winner Emilia Gravett (Astbury GC) with a hot score of 64 seeing her three shots clear of Robbie Ellis (Styal), Oscar Roberts (Crewe)  and Holly Wright (Styal).

It was also close in the gross section with Wilf Simcock winning a cpo on 69 from his Ringway GC colleague Ellis Courtnell, one less than Callum Woolley (Crewe).
