Linda looking forward to her new role at Disley

Linda McCay (pictured), a retired lawyer, is relishing the year ahead as Lady Captain of Disley Golf Club.

Linda, who has been a member of Disley GC for eight years, said: “Disley is a gem of a course on the edge of the Peak District with magnificent views over Kinder Scout.

“It’s a welcoming and friendly club where I have made some amazing friends over the past eight years. As well as enjoying golf we have lots of fun and laughs and after all that’s really why we play golf, right?

“My current handicap is 24 and my best was 23.2 and my favourite course, other than Disley is Vale de Lobo Ocean Course on the Algarve- it’s warmer and drier than the UK!.

“My favourite hole at Disley is difficult to chose between the par three 13th for its spectacular views from the tee and the par four 14th where a quarry comes into play on the second shot which is a challenge to get over- and it always feels good to achieve that.

“I will be looking to play golf twice a week as well as playing tennis, hiking, working out in the gym, learning Norwegian and being with my two adorable granddaughters.

“My favourite football team is Manchester United and as our Captain Philip is a Man City fan it should make for some ‘interesting’ conversations on the course and we have both chosen the Kinder Scout Mountain Rescue team to support as our Captain’s charity.

My own golfing highlight is winning Mr Captain’s Day to the ladies in 2023 with a net 63 and finally the only person I would choose to play with me would be Henrik Stenson and no one else!
