The R&A has announced that the Amateur Championship will be hosted by Royal Liverpool and West Lancs in 2026. The Amateur attracts the world’s best male players with the added bonus for the winner of an invitation to play in the Masters the following year.
Royal Liverpool hosted the inaugural Amateur in 1885 and most recently it was held there in 2000. This will be another major championship to add to the significant list held at RLGC, who this year host the English Amateur.
Stroke play qualifying will be held over both Royal Liverpool and West Lancs, with the matchplay stages held at Royal Liverpool.
