Cheshire Ladies Westminster Shield 2025

Sandiway team win close contest for Westminster Shield

Sandiway team win close contest for Westminster Shield.

Ladies teams from across Cheshire enjoyed a challenging, scenic and well presented course as they played for the Westminster Shield at Romiley GC.

All at Romiley GC gave a warm and supportive welcome on the day with Cheshire Golf’s Fiona Walton seamless running the event. Fortunately for the teams playing at Romiley, they managed to avoid the rain which affected nearby areas.

On the course the very experienced Sandiway team of Barbara Laird, Jane Burke, Cathy Day and Julie Dunn (pictured below left) set the benchmark with a score of 78 points.

Prestbury’s fab four of Bernie Quinn, Nicky Markland, Michelle Pretty and Liz Thomas (pictured below left to right) moved in to second place with a score of 75 points early in the afternoon.

In second place was the Sandiway Team of Lynn Berry, Carol Dodd, Tracey Atherton and Karen Cox with 76 points on a cpo.

The last group to play included the Cheshire Golf Deputy President Marjorie Griffiths (Ringway), Nina Waterhouse (Romiley), Jenny Kehoe (Sale) and Moira Forster (Sale) matching the Sandiway Team’s score of 76 points. The sinking of long putt by Marjorie Griffiths on the Hole 18 ensured a third place finish.

Congratulations to you all!
