Under 14s win at Bramall Park

Cheshire Boys Under 14’s enjoyed a great day at Bramall Park and notched up an exciting first win of the season.

The team manager Graham McCormack said: “Today at Bramall Park was one of the best days of golf and hospitality I can remember for some time- mainly due to the full package of the welcome, the weather, the course and the catering.

“We owe a big thank you to Mark Emms, their junior organiser, for organising the day, the staff in the restaurant and the Pro shop.

“The Captain and President of Bramall Park both welcomed us, which I thought was a lovely gesture.

“My thanks once again go to parents for their support and my cohorts Jim McBride and Mike Jones.

“Regarding the golf and given the difference in handicaps (we did not receive one shot) I would have been happy to record a draw.

“It was nip and tuck for the first five matches with wins for Ricky Mohun 3&1 and Max Gilsenan 6&4 being overtaken by wins for the home team over James Clark, one down, Shane Clayton two down and Will Furness two down.

“But then wins for Pierce Freeman 5&4, Callum Miller 2&1 and a vital one up win for Aidan Lam coming down from four down with six to play and Tomas Balakrishnan 2/1 took us across the line by 6-4 with Park winning the last match by 3/2 over Adam Van Vuuren.
