Cheshire u16 boys team enjoyed their trip into White Rose territory at Malton & Norton GC as they took on their u16 counterparts.
The match turned out to be a real thriller with one game in the morning foursomes and six in the afternoon singles being decided on the final green and all of the players in both teams can be very proud of their quality of play.
Cheshire edged the morning foursomes by 3.5 to 2.5 with wins for Ellis Courtnell (Ringway) and Josh Hockenhull (Prestbury) 2&1, Austin Eastwood (Caldy) and Wilf Simcock (Ringway) 3&2 and Austin O’Connor (Prestbury)and Eamon Palmer (Upton by Chester) 3&1 with Jasper Hughes (Wilmslow) and Dylan Emms (Bramall Park) halving their match.
Yorkshire showed their fighting spirit as they took the afternoon singles 7-5 for a tense 9.5- 8.5 win.
Picking up the points for Cheshire were Ellis Courtnell one up to extend their lead in the first match out.
Yorkshire came storming back to win the next six matches before a superb finish from Cheshire with wins from Ricky Mohun (Delamere Forest) 3&2, Jasper Hughes one up, Austin O’Connor one up, Eamon Palmer 4&3 and Jonah Ashworth 2&1 (Delamere Forest) saw Cheshire just miss out in a superb contest.
