White Rose too hot for Senior Men

Cheshire Men’s Senior Captain Martin Keates led out his Cheshire team at his home club Prestbury to take on Yorkshire in their Northern Seniors League match

Martin said: “Cheshire lost their second league match this season at Prestbury against a very strong Yorkshire team that fielded three current or recent England internationals.

“The quality of the golf played was extremely high and the matches were invariably tight but Yorkshire prevailed in the end 11.5 v 6.5.

“Yorkshire led the morning Foursomes 3.5-2.5 with the home points coming from Martyn Grimley and Paul Knight 3&1, Mike Wallwork and Simon Bolam two up and a half from myself and Mark Kingsley.

“Yorkshire dominated the afternoon Four Balls 9-3 with the Cheshire points coming from Steve Hughes and Martin France 2&1 and a half from Martyn Grimley and Paul Knight.

“Both teams were looked after extremely well by Prestbury Golf Club and both Cheshire and Yorkshire would like to extend their thanks to the club for making its immaculately presented course available to them for the match.”
