Toby breaks another record at Didsbury

Didsbury Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Cheshire having been founded in 1891 and it has always been proud of its development of young golfers over the years including the likes of Danny Wardrop, Haydn McCullen and Hannah Richards.
Last year eight-year-old Toby Redman was believed to be the youngest-ever player to have a hole in one at his club.
It came on the fourth hole playing off blue tees on the 120-yard par three when his tee shot with a driver found the hole with unerring accuracy and witnessed by his dad Adam.
Now he is claiming a second record by becoming the youngest player ever to have the top score in a Saturday competition a year on from his ace.
The Stableford competition was played over 11 holes and Toby, playing off 49 handicap, posted an impressive 32 points to finish top of division three by three points from Ed Chilton and also well ahead of division one winner Steve Walton 23 and division two top man Martin Murray 28.
Toby was awarded a special junior prize for his success on the day.
A delighted dad Adam said: “Toby joined Didsbury in 2022 and after having lessons played a few holes with me on a Sunday morning and then in competitions.
“His hard work in developing his game is paying off and he will be looking to play in Junior Open competitions as well more club competitions in 2024 to get his handicap reduced.”
