Wonderful Warrington Sets Up Some Super Golf

Cheshire Seniors and Men served up a feast of top golf in their match-play competitions with plenty of drama in both competitions which saw the cream of Cheshire Golf in full flow.

Cheshire official Stewart Neil said: “Many thanks to Warrington Golf Club for being fantastic hosts over the three days of competition- in the clubhouse, behind the bar, in the kitchen and on the course- the compliments we were asked to pass on were very sincere and full of deserved praise for everyone involved. well done to you all.

“Also the great golf that was played throughout the competition in fantastic course and weather conditions- well done to you all.”

Finals day saw both sets of semi-finals competed for by some county legends,

In the Men’s semi-finals were reigning champion and last season’s top team player. Sam Prince (Ringway) taking on Alex Lundy (Warrington) and another top team player and captain for many years Jon Beesley (The Mere) played Richard Galley (Delamere Forest)

Going through to the final were Sam and Jon who fought out a terrific and high quality contest with Sam retaining his title with a close 2&1 win.

The Seniors competition again showed the quality of Cheshire Golf with the semi-finals featuring a true Cheshire legend Gareth Bradley (Bramhall) against Seniors team star Neil Andrew (Northenden) and Guy Hindle (Warrington) played Ian Jenkinson (Wallasey).

Gareth and Guy went through to another close contest with Gareth winning 3&2.
