Agony for Baird in Welsh Seniors
Richard Baird of Vicars Cross, a Cheshire Senior Men's team member, was beaten on the third play-off hole in the Welsh Seniors Championship at Aberdovey Golf Club
Baird held a one-shot lead after two rounds ahead of 1989 Walker Cup player Neil Roderick who had won the two previous renewals of this championship. After the regulation 54 holes Roderick and Baird were tied, a play-off being required to produce the winner. Roderick won on the second extra hole.
