Convincing win for Boys team

Following their narrow defeat by Yorkshire in the Little Six in the previous week Cheshire Boys showed their class and determination as they took on Cumbria In the Northern Counties Boys League at Bentham Golf Club which has amazing views from nearly every hole.
The Cheshire Captain Matty Griffiths (Lymm GC) led from the front and set a great example which his team followed superbly.
The morning foursomes saw Cheshire take a 3.5-1.5 lead with wins from Wilf Simcock (Wilmslow) and Harvey Taylor (Prestbury) 3/1, Jack Barnes (Romiley) and Lennon Smith (Eaton) 2/1 and Jack Tennant (Disley) and Shane Clayton (Delamere Forest) 7/5 with Matty Griffiths and Joseph Dodd-Berry halving their match.
There was no stopping Cheshire in the afternoon singles which ended with a 10-0 white wash for a massive 13.5- 1.5 win.
Matty Griffiths set up the scoring feast with a 6/4 win followed by Joseph Dodd-Berry two up, Harvey Taylor 8/6, Jack Barnes 4/2, Wilf Simcock 6/5. Shane Clayton one up, Jack Tennant 4/3, Ellis Courtnell 4/3, Callum Woolley 2/1 and Lennon Smith 7/6.
Junior manager Andrew Henshall said: “Given that some of the boys had been awake watching England play football in the early hours it was great to see their team spirit as they all encouraged the last few matches out on the course to achieve a tremendous result.”
