Convincing win for Senior Men

After their opening match defeat to Yorkshire Cheshire Senior Men’s team got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory against Durham, hosted in impeccable style by Prestbury GC.

The morning foursomes saw Cheshire off to a solid start a one up win for Mike Wallwork and Dave Nelson.

Durham hit back quickly with two wins to take the lead but Cheshire finished the session strongly with wins for Guy Hindle and Chris Massey 2/1 and Martyn Grimley and Neil Hickson 2/1 and Martin Keates and Phil Leadbetter 3-1 to take a 4-2 lead into the afternoon Fourballs.

Cheshire kept up their momentum in impressive style with wins from Martin Wallwork and Dave Nelson , one up, Richard Stockdale and Paul Knight one up, Guy Hindle and Chris Massey 5/4 with Simon Bolam and Iain Bartholomew and Martyn Grimley and Neil Hickson halving their matches with Durham winning the last match against Martin Keates and Phil Leadbetter by one up.

Cheshire Captain Lee Turner said: “It was a great team performance and Prestbury were fantastic hosts.”

It was a solid 12-8 win for Cheshire to boost their confidence as they prepare for their next fixture at home against old rivals Lancashire at Stockport in July.
