It is a very special moment to win a county championship, and there is a particularly enjoyable reward for all those who achieve this: entry into the annual English Champion of Champions events that take place on the Hotchkin course at Woodhall Spa.

The history of these events goes back to 1963 when the English Golf Union introduced the format for the counties' men's champions. The inaugural event resulted in a tie between our very own Gordon Edwards and Northumberland's Alan Thirlwell.

Over the years equivalent events for Ladies, Boys, Girls and Seniors have been added.

David Horsey won the men's in 2005 in spectacular fashion when making an eagle on the final hole. Bel Wardle won the women's event in 2019, but other than these successes we've not had any other wins. But this year Cheshire is represented in every category and so we have every chance to see another long-awaited Cheshire success. The Cheshire representatives are:
