Gareth adds 2nd Senior County Strokeplay Crown at Crewe

Gareth completes a fantastic month of success at Crewe Golf Club

Cheshire and Bramhall Golf Club legend Gareth Bradley has enjoyed a great recent run of golf success concluding in winning the Cheshire Seniors Strokeplay Championship at Crewe Golf Club.

Gareth had won the Seniors Match-play title at Prenton a few weeks ago and soon afterwards set a new course record of 64 at his home club despite suffering a niggling Achilles injury. He then played a key role in Cheshire Senior Men’s Northern League victory over Lancashire at Stockport just before the competition in the Seniors Stroke-play Championship.

Cheshire Golf Secretary Steve Doughty reported on the competition: “The sun blessed Crewe Golf Club over two days with some wonderful weather to match the quality of the golf.

“Capturing the trophy for a second time was Gareth Bradley (Bramhall) after a second round of 72 giving a score of 146 to edge the first round leader Ian Jenkinson (Wallasey) by a single shot.

“An excellent second round of 72 propelled Christopher Massey (Prestbury) into third place. 

“In addition to the overall prizes the leading gross 55-59 age group winner was home club member Robert Reid, with Martyn Grimley (Ringway) taking the 60-64 prize and Bob Walker (Crewe) the 65+.

“The nett 55-59 prize went to Andrew Jennings (Wychwood Park), Denver Brazier (Vicars Cross) took the 60-64 prize and David Young (Didsbury) the 65+ prize.

“Many thanks to all the staff at Crewe Golf Club for taking care of us and their members for allowing us to use their course.”
