Mixed Age Boys prevail at Macclesfield

The Boys defeat Derbyshire on a beautiful day at Macclesfield

Mixed Age Boys prevail at Macclesfield

A strong Derbyshire boys team came to Macclesfield on September 1st for this Boys Mixed Age fixture.

The beautiful summer weather returned for one day and the fantastic views into seven different counties were clear for all players and spectators to see.

Besides the great scenery we had some equally great golf to watch and whilst Derbyshire’s Under 18s were better than the Cheshire Under 18s selected and the Under 16s were very equal in ability, the Cheshire Under 14s comprising Aidan Lam Henry Quinn Jeremy Ju and James Prest however were very much better than the Derbyshire Under 14s giving them 6 wins out of 6 in a team victory of 11-7.

Special mention for all the Under 14s listed above, plus George Bull for a fantastic 7&6 singles win and coming out to help support his teammates, and Theo Seed for a fine 6&4 singles victory in his first game for the County.

Thanks as always to our host club Macclesfield and especially their greens team who were out ironing the greens very early on with the whole course receiving so many compliments from all the players on both sides.

Boys manager Andrew Henshall praised everyone who played and who contributed to the win in a game that extended the friendship between the counties of Cheshire and Derbyshire.

Cheshire President Marjorie Griffiths and County Chairman Cleveland McCurdy were spotted on the course supporting the players.
