It was a clean sweep for the Prestbury Golf Club ladies in the Women’s Centenary Rose Bowl, with all three of the leading teams coming from the club.

A total of 48 ladies took part in the competition at Bromborough Golf Club, playing an 18-hole three ball betterball. The best two scores from each team counted towards the final result.

Taking the title were Tracy McGregor, Gilly O’Neil and Tina Moorhouse, who finished in first place with a score of 78 points.

Second place went to Jacqui Bickerton, Gillian Singh and Liz Thomas with 72 points, while Caroline Harrison-Croft, Nicky Markland and Michelle Pretty completed the Prestbury clean sweep in third place on 71 points.

The competition was played in good conditions, with the rain threatening throughout the day but thankfully staying away.

There was also plenty of praise for the Bromborough greenkeeping team, who have done an amazing job restoring the course following the hot, dry weather. The course had been transformed from what was described as a sunburned desert back to the lush green fairways that Bromborough members have come to expect. Clubhouse catering was also to the high standard that members and visitors have come to expect.

The Cheshire Golf organisers also deserve great credit for running the event flawlessly. Sue Hughes and Lesley Brett managed the arrivals and scoring with Sarah starter on the first tee, while on-course referees and marshals Andrew Parker and Mark Roberts from High Legh kept everything running smoothly on the course throughout the day.
