Prestbury win Westmister Shield
The ladies of Prestbury Golf Club clinch the Westminster Shield at Warrington

The Cheshire Ladies team competition for the Westminster Shield attracted a quality field of teams of four representing their clubs.
The day went well with just a couple of showers and a strong wind testing the players on an excellently presented course.
The Shield Holders Sandiway fielded three top teams and their fab four A team of Elizabeth Evans, Abby Baumber, Katie Lavender and Denise Burchell set an early target of 80 points overtaking Ringway’s team of Marjorie Griffiths, Moira Forster, Jenny Kehoe and Win Heath 75.
But then the competition got really tight as the Prestbury team of Liz Thomas, Michelle Pretty, Nicky Markland and Gillian Singh matched the leaders 80 points.
The cpo went in favour of Prestbury who were delighted to take the shield back to East Cheshire after being presented with it by Cheshire Deputy President Stewart Neil.
Prestbury Captain Gillian Singh gave deserved praise to the Cheshire officials and Warrington Golf Club for making this a special competition.
Also in the mix were Pam Draper. Sarah Miles, Jenny Carter and Jane Sellors (Chorlton) 74, Hilary Stanton, Karen Cox, Janet Carter and Tracey Atherton (Sandiway) 74 and Jane Burke, Barbara Laird, Emily Guest and Jill Peters (Sandiway) 70.
