Rare defeat for Senior Ladies

Having won the Richardson Trophy for nine consecutive years, Cheshire Senior Ladies welcomed Yorkshire to the delightful Hale GC for a vital encounter. Hale is the home club of Cheshire Senior Ladies Captain Tiff Fielden. Cheshire fell to a 5-2 defeat against a strong White Rose team.
Tiff reported: “A 5-2 loss doesn't actually reflect the closest of the match with Yorkshire winning three games on the 18th.
“With the last two matches out on the course it could have still been halved but Yorkshire won both at one up..
“On the day it was a valiant effort by all players as Hale was playing tough following our major two day competition this weekend.”
It was even-stevens after the first four matches as defeats for Sara Spencer and Caroline Berry were cancelled out with wins for Elaine Ratcliffe and Barbara Jamieson by 2/1.
There were close calls for Jane Burke, Nat Cowley and Ali Hicks in the final three games but Yorkshire came out on top for a 5-2 win.
