Shane canters to 8 shot win in Boys Chamionship

Delamere Forest Golf Club has hosted the Cheshire Boys Championships since 1984 and once more they provided a magnificent stage for a superb contest.
The quality of the golfing talent on view was amazing and reflected the hard work put in by Cheshire Golf in developing junior golf.
The boys showed their golfing talent and also their friendship and impeccable golfing etiquette throughout the enthralling 36 holes.
Setting the pace was Shane Clayton of Delamere Forest, who had won the Cheshire Boys u16 title at Pryors Hayes GC a couple of weeks ago.
He posted a magnificent gross 66 to have a big lead going into the second round.
He kept up his momentum in round two with another great score of 67 for a winning total of 133 which left him eight shots clear of Cheshire team stars Dean Lenahan (Wilmslow GC) and Will Furness (Ringway GC).
Shane (15) became only the second player to win both the Cheshire Under-16s and Boys Championship titles in the same year, the other being another Delamere member Lewis George in 2013.
Other prize winners were Best Net round two Ben Maton 70, Best Gross round two Bobby Moore, Best Net 36 holes Eamonn Palmer (Upton by Chester) 139.
Shane, who began the day with a 0.0 handicap and finished it on +2.0, will now go to represent Cheshire in the English County Champions Tournament at Woodhall Spa GC in September.
Cheshire Golf President Marjorie Griffiths (RIngway GC) opened the presentation to the winners with deserved thanks to Delamere Forest staff and members for again being magnificent hosts for the championships, the players and their parents and supporters for their outstanding qualities on a great day for Cheshire Golf .
Her praise for all involved was echoed by Delamere Forest Captain Mark Proctor who was delighted that his club were such great hosts.
